Assets You Can Trade on OKX

Fees explained

OKX splits maker and taker at the entry tier and groups pairs rather than charging one rate across the board. The rates below are those in the global fee framework effective 25 November 2025 for a regular user, meaning anyone holding under $100,000 in assets with 30-day volume below $1,000,000 (source: OKX global fee framework update).

Pair groupMakerTaker
Groups one through three, covering the top ten pairs and everything below them0.0800%0.1000%
Special-rule pairs0.1000%0.1500%
Zero-fee pairsNothingNothing

Cheaper tiers come from volume, holdings, or OKB. What OKX charges to move fiat in is set per region and published outside the trading schedule, so check the funding page for your country before comparing rates. OKX publishes monthly proof of reserves reports against a 1:1 reserve ratio (source: OKX proof of reserves page).

A cost estimate for a $500 purchase on OKX and Binance appears here once the published fee schedules are verified.

History and ownership

OKX publishes very little about its own corporate structure. There is no about page, no audited financial statement, and no register entry linked from the site, and RampAtlas could not confirm the exchange's ownership or its founding date from a primary source as of September 2026. Treat any founding story you read elsewhere as unverified unless it points at a document.

What is documented is how the venue governs itself in public. The fee framework was revised with effect from 25 November 2025 and the change was published in advance with the new tier definitions written out (source: OKX global fee framework update), and reserve reports are published on a monthly cycle (source: OKX proof of reserves page). Those are the two commitments you can hold OKX to. For an exchange that discloses this little about its parent, the practical answer is to weigh the published operational record and treat the corporate layer as unknown rather than as safe.

Products and markets

As of September 2026, OKX's public instruments endpoint lists 1,385 live spot markets across 397 base assets (source: OKX public API). That is a large market count built on a comparatively short asset list, which tells you the venue runs many quote currencies against the same coins rather than chasing a long tail of tokens.

Around the order book sit futures, options, a convert tool, trading bots, copy trading, earn products and an institutional arm, all reachable from the same account (source: OKX product navigation). For a buyer, the relevant point is that the spot fee schedule is the one that applies to a straightforward purchase, and the pair group your asset falls into decides the rate.

Security record and custody

OKX's disclosure here is better than its corporate disclosure. The exchange states that it holds a 1:1 reserve of all account assets and publishes monthly proof of reserves reports, built on a Merkle root and a zk-STARK construction that lets an account holder verify their own balance was included without exposing anyone else's (source: OKX proof of reserves page). Verification works by comparing the total held in OKX's on-chain wallet addresses against the total account assets committed in the Merkle root.

That is a strong reserve-proof design and a monthly cadence, which is more frequent than several competitors manage. The usual caveat stands: a reserve proof shows assets at a moment in time and says nothing about off-balance-sheet liabilities, so it is evidence of solvency rather than proof of it.

RampAtlas found no enforcement action or security incident involving OKX that it could confirm from a primary regulator or court source, and so states none. That is a statement about what could be verified, not a clean bill of health.

Deposits and withdrawals

Funding costs are not in the trading schedule. Card and bank rails are priced per region and published on country-specific funding pages, so the 0.0800% maker rate describes the trade and nothing else (source: OKX global fee framework update).

The order to work in is the same as at any offshore venue. Establish which deposit methods are open to you where you live, price those, and only then compare trading rates. Where a local fiat pair exists, it usually beats buying a stablecoin elsewhere and bridging it in, because it removes a network fee and a spread. Country-level availability is covered on pages such as Singapore, and the asset-level view is at Buy Ethereum.

Support and usability

OKX is a professional trading platform with a retail wrapper, and the interface reflects that. Spot, futures, options, bots and earn products all live in one account, and the fee you pay depends on which of several pair groups your market sits in rather than on a single published number.

Two things follow. First, check the pair group before you place an order, because the difference between a group-three pair and a special-rule pair is 0.0500% on the taker side. Second, expect kyc and expect regional variation: OKX operates region-specific sites with different product sets, so a feature documented on one country's pages may not exist on yours. New buyers who want one screen and one number will find this more machinery than they need.

OKX suits an active spot trader who wants a maker rate under 0.1% without buying an exchange token, and who will check which pair group an asset falls into before trading. The monthly zk-STARK reserve proof is among the better transparency practices in the market. Look elsewhere if you want to know who owns the venue holding your money, because OKX publishes nothing to answer that, or if you are a first-time buyer who would rather not learn a pair-group table to know the price. The funding leg is unpriced in the public schedule, so treat any comparison built on the headline rate alone as incomplete. See Compare for the alternatives.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 0.0800% maker and 0.1000% taker for regular users with no volume history
  • Some pairs trade at 0.0000% on both sides
  • Publishes monthly proof-of-reserves reports at a 1:1 reserve ratio

Cons

  • Special-rule pairs cost 0.1000% maker and 0.1500% taker
  • Deposit and card costs are not part of the trading schedule

Guides

  • What Proof of Reserves Means and Why It Matters

Proof of reserves is a published, point-in-time report in which an exchange shows cryptographically that it holds at least as much of an asset as its customers are owed, which is useful evidence about assets but says nothing about the exchange's debts, so it belongs in your assessment as one signal rather than as a guarantee.

  • Crypto Estate Planning: Making Sure Your Coins Aren't Lost With You

Passing on cryptocurrency requires two things that an ordinary will does not provide on its own, a record of what exists and where, and a route by which the person inheriting it can reach the keys, because no court order can recover a seed phrase nobody wrote down.

  • Crypto Tax in Australia: CGT, Records, and the ATO

In Australia the Australian Taxation Office treats a crypto asset as a capital gains tax asset, so disposing of it by selling, swapping, or spending it is a CGT event, while tokens you receive from activities such as staking are treated as income when you receive them.
