Fees explained
Crypto.com Exchange sets your rate from three inputs at once: 30-day trading volume, maker activity, and the CRO balance held on the exchange, refreshed daily at 04:00 UTC. The CRO ladder is the part that moves the number most, and it is published in full as of September 2026 (source: Crypto.com CRO Rewards help article).
| CRO balance held on the exchange | Maker | Taker |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | 3% discount | 3% discount |
| 10,000 | 8% discount | 8% discount |
| 50,000 | Maker fees removed entirely | 12% discount |
| 100,000 | 0.01 basis point rebate | 15% discount |
| 5,000,000 | 0.10 basis point rebate | 30% discount |
The base table those discounts apply to is published on the exchange's fees and limits page. A forced liquidation on a derivatives position carries an additional 0.50% charge.
A cost estimate for a $500 purchase on Crypto.com Exchange and Binance appears here once the published fee schedules are verified.
History and ownership
Crypto.com does not publish audited financial statements, and RampAtlas could not confirm its ownership structure or founding date from a primary source as of September 2026. The company states on its own site that it is trusted by more than 150 million users worldwide (source: Crypto.com proof of reserves page), which is a self-reported figure rather than an audited one and should be read as such.
The structure around the exchange is unusually broad. The same group runs a consumer app, an on-chain wallet, a custody arm, a merchant payments business, a prediction market and the Cronos blockchain networks (source: Crypto.com product navigation). One consequence for a customer is that the exchange sits inside a larger business whose fortunes it shares, and another is that CRO, the token the entire fee ladder depends on, is issued by that same group. Holding it to lower your trading rate is a position in the venue as well as a discount.
Products and markets
As of September 2026, the exchange's public instruments endpoint reports 576 tradable currency pairs covering 421 base assets, quoted against US dollars, euros, Tether, PYUSD, Bitcoin, Ethereum and CRO (source: Crypto.com Exchange public API). Two fiat quote currencies against several hundred assets puts it between the mainstream US venues and the long-tail offshore ones.
Around the order book sit perpetual futures, tokenized stocks, staking and earn products, and a prediction market, with an institutional custody and API arm alongside (source: Crypto.com product navigation). The exchange is a separate product from the consumer app, and it is the one with published maker and taker rates, so make sure you are comparing the right one.
Security record and custody
Crypto.com states that all customer assets held on its platform are fully backed 1:1, stored securely and available for redemption on demand, and that its proof of reserves is conducted and certified by an independent auditor, naming Mazars Group as the verifier (source: Crypto.com proof of reserves page). A named third-party verifier is a stronger arrangement than a self-published Merkle root alone, because someone outside the company signs the work.
Read the scope carefully all the same. A reserve attestation confirms that assets matched customer balances at a moment in time. It is not a financial audit of the group, it does not cover liabilities owed outside the platform, and its usefulness depends on how recent the report is. Check the date on the current report rather than relying on the claim that one exists.
RampAtlas found no enforcement action or security incident involving Crypto.com Exchange that it could confirm from a primary regulator or court source in this session, and so states none. That is a statement about verification, not a finding of clean standing.
Deposits and withdrawals
Funding is priced outside the trading schedule, and the fee ladder in the CRO article covers trading only (source: Crypto.com CRO Rewards help article). Because the exchange quotes both US dollars and euros directly, buyers in those currencies can trade without a stablecoin bridge, which removes a network fee and a spread from the total.
That makes the funding question a jurisdiction question. Which rails are open, and at what cost, depends on where you live and which entity in the group serves you. Country-level availability is covered on pages such as Singapore and Australia, and the asset-level view is at Buy Bitcoin.
Support and usability
The fee model is the usability problem. Three inputs decide your rate, one of them is a token balance revalued daily at 04:00 UTC, and the discount tiers are steep enough that most retail accounts sit near the top of the table paying the standard rate. Working out what you will actually pay requires reading two documents and knowing your own CRO balance.
There is a simpler way to think about it. If you do not intend to hold CRO, price Crypto.com Exchange at its base rate and compare that against venues charging a flat 0.1%. If you do intend to hold it, treat the token as an investment decision separate from the fee saving, because the saving is only worth having while the balance is. kyc applies, and product availability differs by country and by group entity.

Crypto.com Exchange makes sense for someone who already holds a substantial CRO balance, since at 50,000 tokens the maker fee disappears and the ladder starts paying real money back. The independently certified reserve attestation is a point in its favor over venues that self-publish. It is a poor fit for anyone unwilling to hold the exchange's own token, because without it the pricing is unremarkable and the complexity is not worth the trouble. It is also a poor fit if you want an audited view of the business rather than self-reported user counts. Compare the flat-rate alternatives at Compare first.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Holding 50,000 CRO removes maker fees entirely and cuts taker fees by 12%
- The full CRO discount ladder is published without an account
Cons
- Every meaningful discount requires holding the exchange token
- A 1,000 CRO balance buys only a 3% discount on both sides

- Crypto Estate Planning: Making Sure Your Coins Aren't Lost With You
Passing on cryptocurrency requires two things that an ordinary will does not provide on its own, a record of what exists and where, and a route by which the person inheriting it can reach the keys, because no court order can recover a seed phrase nobody wrote down.
- Crypto Tax in Australia: CGT, Records, and the ATO
In Australia the Australian Taxation Office treats a crypto asset as a capital gains tax asset, so disposing of it by selling, swapping, or spending it is a CGT event, while tokens you receive from activities such as staking are treated as income when you receive them.
- Crypto Tax in Canada: How the CRA Treats Cryptocurrency
In Canada a crypto disposal produces either a capital gain or business income, and where it is a capital gain the Income Tax Act makes one half of that gain taxable and adds it to your income for the year at your marginal rate.
