Assets You Can Trade on Nexo

Fees explained

Nexo does not publish a crypto trading fee. As of September 2026 its buy page says "no Nexo fees applied" against an asterisk, its exchange page is headlined as a platform with low fees and gives no number, and no fee schedule exists on any Nexo page reachable outside the app (source: Nexo buy crypto page; Nexo exchange page). The one funding cost RampAtlas could verify is that ACH deposits are free and Nexo charges nothing on incoming wires, though your own bank may (source: Nexo buy crypto page, United States edition).

A broker that quotes a single price and publishes no rate is charging you inside the spread, and the size of that spread is the entire cost of the relationship. Nexo is not unusual in using that model. It is unusual in publishing nothing at all about it, which is why the fee estimate below is incomplete and why RampAtlas cannot rank Nexo on cost.

A cost estimate for a $500 purchase on Nexo and SwissBorg appears here once the published fee schedules are verified.

History and ownership

Nexo dates to 2018 (source: Nexo about page). It is a broker rather than an exchange: it quotes a price and executes for the client through partners, running no public order book of its own (source: Nexo buy crypto page). Who those partners are depends on where you live, and that is the most important structural fact on this page.

In the European Economic Area, Nexo does not hold a Markets in Crypto-Assets authorization. It serves European clients through two firms licensed in Germany: Tangany GmbH, a Munich custodian that Nexo describes as MiCAR-licensed and BaFin-regulated with more than 3 billion euros under custody, and DLT Securities GmbH, trading as DLT Finance, for brokerage (source: Nexo MiCA FAQ). Nexo's own European page adds that earn rewards and crypto-backed loans are separate products offered under their own terms and outside the scope of those authorizations.

Products and markets

Buying is one part of a wider product set that also includes crypto-backed loans, earn products and a card. The first two sit outside the partner authorizations in Europe, so the protections attached to a MiCAR license do not attach to them (source: Nexo MiCA FAQ). If you are opening the account for the yield product rather than the buying, read that sentence twice.

As of September 2026, 31 of the assets RampAtlas tracks have a live Nexo buy page, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Cardano, Chainlink, Tether, USDC, PAX Gold and Shiba Inu (source: Nexo buy pages). Nexo's own price table paginates client-side and could not be read as a list, so that count comes from checking pages individually.

The United States product is smaller than the global one. Nexo states that it offers over 30 cryptocurrencies there against over 100 elsewhere, with funding by ACH and wire only, and custody and asset management powered by Bakkt (source: Nexo United States page). RampAtlas records the United States as limited rather than available for that reason.

Security record and custody

Custody is outsourced everywhere, and the identity of the custodian changes with your address: Tangany GmbH in the European Economic Area, Bakkt in the United States (source: Nexo MiCA FAQ; Nexo United States page). Neither arrangement is hidden, which is to Nexo's credit, but it does mean the firm holding your coins is not the firm whose app you opened.

Nexo publishes SOC 2 Type 2 and SOC 3 audit reports (source: Nexo security page). Those are audits of internal controls. They are not a proof of reserves attestation, and RampAtlas does not record one for Nexo.

Neither Nexo nor either European partner appears on the European Securities and Markets Authority's list of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers, and we found no hack, insolvency or enforcement action in the regulator and company sources used for this review.

kyc is required: Nexo describes signing up, confirming an email address and completing an identity check before the account is usable (source: Nexo home page).

Deposits and withdrawals

The published rails are Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfers and bank cards globally, narrowing to ACH and wire transfer in the United States (source: Nexo home page; Nexo United States page). ACH is free and Nexo adds nothing to an incoming wire.

Everything else about funding is unpublished. There is no card fee, no SEPA figure, no withdrawal schedule and no list of the fiat currencies you can deposit. The buy flow shows a full currency picker, but that is a price converter rather than a list of depositable currencies, so RampAtlas records no fiat currency list for Nexo.

Country coverage is the other gap. Nexo's only statement on where it operates is a marketing line about holding licenses and registrations across more than 200 jurisdictions, and it publishes no restricted-jurisdictions list and no supported-countries article that could be read. Treat any country claim about Nexo that does not come with a license reference, including that one, as unverified.

Support and usability

Nexo's help center is an application whose article bodies never load into the page, and its terms and conditions render as "Loading terms..." to anything but a live browser session. That is the practical usability problem with the whole platform for anyone doing research before they deposit: the answers exist, but they are inside the product rather than on the web.

In the United Kingdom, Nexo runs the Financial Conduct Authority's investor categorization and appropriateness assessment before you can proceed, and its financial promotion is approved by an authorized firm, Gateway 21, under reference 999557 (source: Nexo United Kingdom page). That is the regime working as intended and it will add a step to signing up.

Nexo makes sense for someone who came for the lending and earn products and wants to buy in the same place, and who accepts that the price of a trade is whatever the app quotes on the day. The partner structure is disclosed, the audit reports are real, and the Australian and Californian registrations are checkable.

It is a poor fit for anyone comparing on cost, because there is nothing to compare: no trading fee, no spread, no card charge and no withdrawal schedule is published anywhere we could read. Buyers in the United States get a smaller catalogue and a Bakkt-powered product, and European buyers should understand that the earn and loan products sit outside the licenses that cover the buying. Compare against venues that publish a rate at Compare.

Guides

  • Crypto Estate Planning: Making Sure Your Coins Aren't Lost With You

Passing on cryptocurrency requires two things that an ordinary will does not provide on its own, a record of what exists and where, and a route by which the person inheriting it can reach the keys, because no court order can recover a seed phrase nobody wrote down.

  • Crypto Tax in Australia: CGT, Records, and the ATO

In Australia the Australian Taxation Office treats a crypto asset as a capital gains tax asset, so disposing of it by selling, swapping, or spending it is a CGT event, while tokens you receive from activities such as staking are treated as income when you receive them.

  • Crypto Tax in Canada: How the CRA Treats Cryptocurrency

In Canada a crypto disposal produces either a capital gain or business income, and where it is a capital gain the Income Tax Act makes one half of that gain taxable and adds it to your income for the year at your marginal rate.
