Assets You Can Trade on Revolut

Fees explained

Revolut charges a tiered crypto trading fee that depends on your subscription plan and your 30-day volume. As of September 2026, a Standard or Plus customer trading under 10,000 euros a month pays 1.49%, a Premium or Metal customer pays 0.99%, and an Ultra customer pays 0.49% (source: Revolut tiered crypto pricing page). That is the published rate. It is not the whole cost.

PlanFee
Standard and Plus1.49%
Premium and Metal0.99%
Ultra0.49%

On top of the fee sits a spread that Revolut describes rather than quotes. Its own fee page states that one-sided product added spreads typically vary between 0 and 3% of the trade amount (source: Revolut crypto fee schedule). A range that wide is not a price. It means a trade could cost you the headline 1.49% or something closer to 4.49%, and nothing published tells you which before you confirm. RampAtlas records no spread figure for Revolut for that reason.

A cost estimate for a $500 purchase on Revolut and eToro appears here once the published fee schedules are verified.

History and ownership

Revolut launched in 2015 and is run from London, where Revolut Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 08804411 (source: Revolut about page; Revolut terms). The crypto business inside the European Economic Area is not run by that company. It sits in Revolut Digital Assets (Europe) Ltd, a company registered in Cyprus under registration number HE430310 and authorized by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission as a cryptoasset service provider under Regulation (EU) 2023/1114, the Markets in Cryptoassets Regulation (source: Revolut cryptocurrency terms).

The European Securities and Markets Authority's interim register carries the same authorization independently, dated 20 October 2025 under legal entity identifier 549300ET4IUR6RCZOL84, along with the host member states the license is passported into: Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Ireland are all on that list. The distinction matters when something goes wrong. The app is a Revolut product, but your counterparty for a crypto trade in the European Economic Area is a Cyprus company supervised from Nicosia.

Products and markets

This is where the page runs out of sourced facts. Revolut publishes no supported-asset list that can be read outside the app, so RampAtlas records no coins for Revolut at all. The help center's cryptocurrency section is an index whose article bodies never load into the page, and its search is an assistant rather than a document set, so the supported-country list is equally unavailable.

What is published is the base currency list for the European entity. Revolut Digital Assets (Europe) Ltd supports euros, Polish zloty, Hungarian forint, Swiss francs, Swedish kronor, Norwegian kroner, Danish kroner, Bulgarian lev, Czech koruna and Romanian leu, each with its own monthly stablecoin exchange limit, 500,000 in the case of euros (source: Revolut personal crypto fees page). Pounds sterling and US dollars sit with other Revolut entities.

One observation rather than a fact: Revolut's United States crypto page redirects to the US homepage, which lists savings, stocks and a robo-advisor and no crypto product. That is the absence of a page, not a published statement, so this review makes no claim about whether crypto is available to US customers.

Security record and custody

Nothing about Revolut's crypto custody is published in a form we could read. No custodian is named, no cold wallet policy is stated, and no proof of reserves attestation exists on any page reachable outside the app.

The authorization itself is real and worth something. A MiCA cryptoasset service provider license brings the custody and administration of client cryptoassets inside the supervision of a European regulator rather than leaving it to company policy (source: Revolut cryptocurrency terms; European Securities and Markets Authority interim register). Revolut does not appear on that authority's list of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers, and we found no enforcement action, hack or insolvency affecting the crypto entity in the sources used here.

kyc is required. Revolut states that using its crypto services requires registering a cryptoasset account, providing your details and completing verification procedures (source: Revolut cryptocurrency terms).

Deposits and withdrawals

Crypto sits inside the Revolut app, so funding is whatever your Revolut account already holds and the usual bank-rail comparison does not apply the way it does at a standalone venue.

Revolut's crypto fee schedule contains a sentence saying it does not charge fees for deposits, but the neighboring section of the same document is explicitly about crypto withdrawals, so the sentence most likely refers to crypto deposits rather than to funding in euros or pounds. RampAtlas therefore publishes no fiat deposit fee for Revolut. The same document says there is no fee for use of the crypto card, which is about spending crypto rather than buying it, so no card funding fee is published either. No figure could be sourced for withdrawing crypto to an outside wallet.

Support and usability

The usability case is the whole appeal. If you already bank with Revolut, buying a coin is a few taps inside an app you use for other things, with no new account and no transfer to arrange.

The cost of that is opacity. You cannot see an order book, you cannot place a limit order, and the spread that decides your real price is published only as a range. Revolut's help center articles never render outside the app, which is why so much of this review reads "not published."

MiCA authorization

Revolut Digital Assets (Europe) Ltd, CySEC, Revolut cryptocurrency terms, September 2026

Revolut suits someone who already uses the app, wants a small crypto position without opening anything new, and treats the cost as the price of not thinking about it. The Cyprus authorization is genuine and independently confirmed on the European register.

Nobody optimizing for cost or transparency should choose it. A base fee of 1.49% is already above every European broker in this section, and the undisclosed 0 to 3% spread on top means you cannot calculate what a purchase will cost before you make it. Revolut also publishes no coin list and no country list, so this review cannot tell you whether the asset you want is available where you live. Compare against venues that publish both at Compare and Buy Bitcoin.

Pros and Cons

  • The European entity holds a MiCA authorization from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Ten base currencies across the European Economic Area, including zloty, forint and Swiss francs

Cons

  • A product spread of 0 to 3% sits on top of the trading fee and is never quoted as a rate

  • No proof of reserves, no custodian named, and no card or fiat deposit fee published

Guides

  • Crypto Estate Planning: Making Sure Your Coins Aren't Lost With You

Passing on cryptocurrency requires two things that an ordinary will does not provide on its own, a record of what exists and where, and a route by which the person inheriting it can reach the keys, because no court order can recover a seed phrase nobody wrote down.

  • Crypto Tax in Australia: CGT, Records, and the ATO

In Australia the Australian Taxation Office treats a crypto asset as a capital gains tax asset, so disposing of it by selling, swapping, or spending it is a CGT event, while tokens you receive from activities such as staking are treated as income when you receive them.

  • Crypto Tax in Canada: How the CRA Treats Cryptocurrency

In Canada a crypto disposal produces either a capital gain or business income, and where it is a capital gain the Income Tax Act makes one half of that gain taxable and adds it to your income for the year at your marginal rate.
