About Sun Token
What Sun Token is
SUN is the governance token of SUN.io, a decentralized exchange and asset-issuance platform on TRON. The SUN V3.0 whitepaper, last updated 15 April 2025, states that "SUN.io has become the largest asset issuance and trading platform on the TRON blockchain and serves as the core of TRON's DeFi ecosystem," integrating "token swaps, liquidity mining, stablecoin exchange, and governance" (source: SUN V3.0 whitepaper, 15 April 2025).
The claim about SUN that distinguishes it from most exchange tokens is its distribution. The whitepaper states: "There are no pre-mining, tokens reserved for teams, cornerstone investment, or private placement for the SUN token." Every SUN in the V1 and V2 schedules was allocated through mining programs, an airdrop or a DAO-governed pool.
SUN's stated roles are governance voting, a share of stablecoin pool trading fees, boosted liquidity mining, and a buyback-and-burn funded by platform revenue.

How it works
SunSwap is a constant-product automated market maker. The whitepaper gives the formula as x × y = k, and notes the version difference: in SunSwap V1 and V1.5 one side of every pair had to be TRX, while in V2 both x and y can be arbitrary tokens. Liquidity providers receive lp tokens representing their share of a pool, minted on deposit and burned on withdrawal. A separate stablecoin pool handles swaps between assets that should trade near parity, at lower slippage than a constant-product curve would give.
Mining is where SUN is earned and where governance bites. The whitepaper describes staking lp tokens from SunSwap and from the stablecoin pool to mine SUN, with holders voting "to determine the weight of a mining pool." Voting power comes from veSUN: users "stake SUN to obtain veSUN," which acts "as a boost multiplier for mining." Locking SUN therefore does two things at once, directing emissions toward chosen pools and increasing the locker's own mining rate.
veSUN also carries a revenue share. The whitepaper states that "Based on the amount of veSUN users hold, the platform delivers 50% of the transaction fees generated in the stablecoin pool to veSUN holders."
SunPump is the platform's memecoin launchpad, described as "the first fair-launch meme token platform on TRON" where "All meme token contracts launched on the platform are fully transparent, with no presale and no team allocation." Tokens are bought along a bonding curve until the curve completes at a market value of approximately 500,000 TRX. At that point, per the whitepaper, "the platform will automatically deposit 100,000 TRX and 200 million tokens into SunSwap V2 as liquidity, and simultaneously burn the corresponding assets."
The whitepaper publishes SunPump's fees directly: a creation fee of approximately 20 TRX, a 1% trading fee before the curve completes, and about 3,000 TRX deducted from the bonding curve to cover the liquidity addition.
Supply and tokenomics
SUN's distribution ran in two phases, and the whitepaper lists both in full.

| V1 | Genesis Mining | 9.35% |
| V1 | Century Mining | 2.47% |

| V2 | Governance Mining | 19.05% |

Working against emissions is a documented buyback and burn. The whitepaper describes the mechanism precisely: "The SunSwap V2 contract retains 0.05% of each transaction fee in the form of LP Tokens, which are periodically converted to SUN and sent to a designated burn address. Revenue generated by the SunPump contract is retained in TRX and, when needed, converted to SUN and also sent to the burn address." Those tokens are then moved monthly to TRON's blackhole address, T9yD14Nj9j7xAB4dbGeiX9h8unkKHxuWwb.
The whitepaper reports the cumulative result with a start and end date: from 15 December 2021 to 12 April 2025, "a total of 494,199,018.90 SUN tokens have been repurchased and burned." Of that, 333,183,948.74 SUN came from SunSwap V2 revenue and 161,015,070.16 SUN from SunPump revenue. Those figures are dated April 2025 and will have grown since.
The largest single allocation, 47.16% to Sun DAO Governance, is locked for four years with linear vesting per the whitepaper. That is the schedule to watch, because it is both the platform's governance treasury and the biggest scheduled increase in circulating supply.
History
SUN began as a fair-launch experiment on TRON with no allocation to a team or to investors, then went through a redenomination and a redesign into V2. The whitepaper describes the post-redenomination token as "a multifunctional governance token on the SUN platform (similar to the CRV token of Curve DAO and the EPS token of Ellipsis)," which is an accurate description of the model it adopted: vote-escrowed governance, gauge-weighted emissions, and a boost for lockers.
The veCRV airdrop in the V2 distribution is a direct acknowledgement of that lineage, allocating 1% of supply to holders of Curve's vote-escrowed token.
SunPump is the most recent addition and the more consequential one commercially, because it gave the platform a second revenue stream that feeds the same burn address. The whitepaper's own burn accounting shows SunPump contributing 161,015,070.16 SUN of the 494,199,018.90 total by April 2025, roughly a third of all burns, from a product launched much later than SunSwap.
Risks and what to watch
Locking SUN for veSUN is not costless. Vote-escrowed models trade liquidity for yield and voting weight, and a locked position cannot be sold during the lock regardless of what happens to the platform or the token.
Liquidity provision carries impermanent loss, which is separate from and additional to any SUN mining reward. A pool that pays well in emissions can still leave a provider worse off than holding the two assets.
SunPump is a memecoin launchpad, and the whitepaper's own description of the mechanism, no presale and no team allocation, does not make the tokens launched on it any less speculative. The bonding curve and the automatic liquidity deposit are platform features; they say nothing about any individual token launched through them.
Concentration risk runs through the whole platform in a different form. SUN.io, SunSwap and SunPump sit on TRON, so the token's fortunes are tied to activity on a single chain and to that chain's own governance and validator set.
Frequently asked questions
Did SUN have a team or investor allocation?
No. The whitepaper states there is "no pre-mining, tokens reserved for teams, cornerstone investment, or private placement for the SUN token." The V1 and V2 schedules allocate entirely to mining programs, an airdrop and a DAO pool.
What does veSUN do?
Two things. It is voting power over which mining pools receive emissions, and it acts as a boost multiplier on the holder's own mining. veSUN holders also receive 50% of the transaction fees generated in the stablecoin pool.
How is SUN burned?
SunSwap V2 retains 0.05% of each transaction fee as LP tokens, which are converted to SUN. SunPump revenue is held in TRX and converted to SUN. Both go to a burn address and are sent monthly to TRON's blackhole address.
What is SunPump?
SUN.io's memecoin launchpad on TRON. Tokens are bought along a bonding curve; at completion, around 500,000 TRX in market value, the contract adds about 100,000 TRX and 200 million tokens to SunSwap V2 as liquidity and burns the corresponding assets.

- Self-Custody vs Exchange Custody: How to Decide
Deciding between self-custody and exchange custody means choosing which failure you would rather be exposed to, a company that loses or freezes your assets or a mistake of your own that nobody can undo, and most people resolve it by splitting holdings rather than picking one for everything.
- How to Verify a Token Contract Address Before You Buy
A token's contract address is its only real identity, so verifying one means getting the address from the project's own official channel, confirming the same address independently from a second source, and checking on a block explorer that the contract is what it claims to be before you trade against it.
- Choosing Your First Crypto Wallet
Choosing a first wallet comes down to one question, whether a company holds your keys or you do, and the right answer depends on how much you hold, how often you move it, and how confident you are about storing a recovery phrase safely for years.
