About Bitget Token
What Bitget Token is
Bitget Token is the exchange token of Bitget, issued as an erc 20 on Ethereum. Its whitepaper describes it as the asset that unlocks fee discounts, launch access and account privileges on the exchange, and that pays gas in Bitget Wallet. The whitepaper gives its contract address as 0x54D2252757e1672EEaD234D27B1270728fF90581, its issuance date as July 26, 2021 and its issue price as 0.0585 USDT (source: Bitget Token whitepaper, read September 2026).
An exchange token is a different kind of asset from a network token. It has no chain of its own and no consensus role. Its value proposition is the discounts and access one company chooses to attach to it, plus whatever supply policy that company runs. Both of those can be changed by the issuer.
For where to buy Bitget Token from your country or state, see the availability tables on this page and the venues at Exchanges.
How it works
The published utility falls into four groups. On the exchange, the whitepaper states that holders "pay spot transaction fees with BGB to enjoy a 20% discount," that holding it raises a user's VIP level, and that it "serves as a high-LTV collateral asset in Crypto Loans, multi-asset mode, and unified accounts."
On new listings, Bitget's own token page describes Launchpad, where the token buys allocations in early-stage sales, Launchpool, where it is staked for a share of new project tokens, and a Super Airdrop for eligible holders.
On-chain, the whitepaper says the token "can be used to pay for Bitget Wallet's general multi-chain gas fees." This is the piece that connects the supply policy to actual usage, because the quarterly burn is calculated from how much of the token is spent as gas.
The fourth group is payments. The whitepaper describes planned integration with Bitget Pay and the Bitget Card, with holdings unlocking card benefits such as rebates and reduced fees, and notes that these are future benefits rather than shipped ones.
The supply mechanism is the part worth reading closely, because it is a formula rather than a discretionary buyback. From the second quarter of 2025 the whitepaper commits to a quarterly burn with three inputs: the quarterly amount of the token used as gas fees, the quarterly average price, and a fixed burn amount. The stated formula is:
Quarterly Burn Amount = (Quarterly Amount Used as Gas Fee × Preset Constant ÷ (Quarterly Average Price + Constant Price Anchor)) + Fixed Burn Amount
The whitepaper calls the mechanism "utility-based" and says "the quarterly amount of BGB used as gas fee is publicly verifiable on-chain." Tokens are sent to a burn address and the amount and on-chain records are published after each quarter. The endpoint is explicit: burning continues "every quarter until the total supply is reduced to 100 million."
Three parameters in that formula are set by Bitget, not by the market: the Preset Constant, the Constant Price Anchor and the Fixed Burn Amount. The whitepaper says they will be reviewed with the community as the on-chain ecosystem grows, and that community voting on the token's development is planned. Until that exists, the burn rate is a company decision inside a published equation.
Supply and tokenomics
Supply has already been cut once by a large discretionary burn, and is now being cut on the quarterly schedule above.

The published distribution of the original supply was 25% to replace the earlier BFT token, 20% to team incentives, 15% to branding through key opinion leaders, 15% to new user acquisition, 15% to the token's own ecosystem and 10% to the Investor Protection Fund.
One inconsistency in Bitget's own materials should be flagged rather than smoothed over. The whitepaper states that after the January 2025 burn the total supply was 1.2 billion "with all tokens fully in circulation," while Bitget's live token page on September 2, 2026 showed a max supply of 919.99M and a circulating supply of 697.95M. The direction is consistent with quarterly burns reducing supply since the whitepaper was written, but the two published figures do not reconcile on their face. Take the current supply from the live data on this page rather than from either narrative figure.
History
Bitget's whitepaper dates the company to the 2018 bear market and lists its milestones: bitget.com went live in July 2018, USDT-margined futures launched in May 2019, copy trading in May 2020, Launchpad in February 2022, a $300 million protection fund in August 2022, and Merkle tree proof of reserves in December 2022. It became BitKeep's controlling stakeholder in March 2023 and rebranded that wallet as Bitget Wallet in August 2023.
The token's own history has two phases. From launch in July 2021 it was a conventional exchange token: fee discounts, launch access, VIP tiers, with a buyback and burn described only as something the exchange "will start… at the appropriate time." That vague commitment is still the wording on Bitget's token page.
The January 2025 burn changed the picture. Removing 800 million tokens held by the core team, 40% of the supply, took the largest insider allocation off the table in one action, and the whitepaper says the on-chain records were published. From the second quarter of 2025 the discretionary buyback was replaced by the quarterly formula, tied to wallet gas usage, with a stated endpoint of 100 million tokens.
The company's own headline figures in the whitepaper are 700 or more listed assets, 100 million users across more than 200 countries and regions, over 200,000 elite traders on its copy trading platform, daily trading volume exceeding $20 billion, and a $500 million protection fund. These are Bitget's numbers, self-reported, and RampAtlas has not independently verified them.
Risks and what to watch
Issuer concentration is the defining risk. Holding this token is an exposure to Bitget's business: its trading volume, its regulatory position in the jurisdictions it serves, and its solvency. That is counterparty risk of a kind that a native network token does not carry. Bitget publishes Merkle tree proof of reserves and a protection fund, both of which reduce specific failure modes without removing the underlying dependency.
The burn is not fully autonomous. Three of the formula's inputs, the Preset Constant, the Constant Price Anchor and the Fixed Burn Amount, are set by the issuer and explicitly subject to review. A published formula with issuer-set constants is more transparent than a discretionary buyback and less binding than a supply cap written into a contract.
Supply reporting is inconsistent across Bitget's own surfaces, as set out above. That is worth watching because it is the number every valuation ratio depends on, including fdv.
Team allocation history is worth understanding correctly. The 800 million tokens burned in January 2025 came from core team holdings, which removed a large potential source of selling pressure. The original distribution still allocated 20% to team incentives, and the whitepaper does not publish a vesting schedule for what remains.
Finally, the planned expansions into on-chain defi integrations, staking and payments are described in the whitepaper as future benefits. They are commitments, not shipped features.
Frequently asked questions
What is Bitget Token used for?
Paying spot trading fees at a 20% discount on Bitget, raising VIP level, serving as collateral in Bitget's loan and unified account products, taking part in Launchpad and Launchpool, and paying multi-chain gas fees in Bitget Wallet.
How does the burn work?
Quarterly, from the second quarter of 2025, using a published formula whose inputs are the amount of the token spent as gas in Bitget Wallet, the quarterly average price, and a fixed burn amount. Tokens go to a burn address and the records are published. The stated endpoint is a total supply of 100 million.
How much has been burned so far?
The whitepaper documents one large event: 800,000,000 tokens, 40% of the total supply, held by the core team and burned in January 2025, taking total supply to 1.2 billion. Quarterly amounts since then are published by Bitget after each quarter.

- Self-Custody vs Exchange Custody: How to Decide
Deciding between self-custody and exchange custody means choosing which failure you would rather be exposed to, a company that loses or freezes your assets or a mistake of your own that nobody can undo, and most people resolve it by splitting holdings rather than picking one for everything.
- How to Verify a Token Contract Address Before You Buy
A token's contract address is its only real identity, so verifying one means getting the address from the project's own official channel, confirming the same address independently from a second source, and checking on a block explorer that the contract is what it claims to be before you trade against it.
- Choosing Your First Crypto Wallet
Choosing a first wallet comes down to one question, whether a company holds your keys or you do, and the right answer depends on how much you hold, how often you move it, and how confident you are about storing a recovery phrase safely for years.
