About USX
What USX is
USX is a Solana-native dollar asset issued by Solstice Finance and backed by more than a dollar of verified collateral per token. Solstice's documentation describes it as "the overcollateralized settlement asset at the base of the protocol, the single entry point into every YieldVault strategy, and the single exit back out," and says it is "Solana-native and designed to track the U.S. dollar" (source: Solstice documentation, read September 2026).
USX itself pays nothing. Solstice's own token design table lists its supply model as "Demand-driven, no emissions or inflation" and its governance rights as "No." Yield lives in a separate layer of vault tokens minted with USX and redeemed back to USX plus accrued yield.
The collateral is unusual for a dollar asset. The documentation gives it as "Audited cash, tokenized Treasuries, and delta-neutral hedged positions in major digital assets, verified by Accountable."
For where to buy USX from your country or state, see the availability tables on this page and the venues listed at Exchanges.
How it works
Issuance is a two-tier system. The documentation says "KYC'd institutional partners mint USX by depositing USDC, USDG, or USDT into the USX Program, and redeem USX for USDG as the primary redemption asset." Everyone else acquires USX by swapping, either in the Solstice app or on Solana decentralized exchanges including Raydium and Orca. The documentation adds that "Minting and redemption carry no spread; Solstice doesn't profit from issuance or redemption."
Collateral takes a documented path. The documentation lists three steps: "Collateral lands in Solana-based vaults managed by Solstice," then "A portion moves to the custodians Copper and Ceffu for off-exchange settlement," and "On redemption, collateral moves back onchain." Off-exchange settlement means the hedging positions are traded on venues while the collateral itself stays with a custodian, which limits exposure to any single exchange failing.
The delta neutral component is the part that most distinguishes USX from a purely treasury-backed dollar. The documentation explains the intent: "Delta neutral means net market exposure is designed to be near zero. Positions are hedged so directional price moves don't drive system value."
Verification is contracted out and continuous rather than self-reported. The documentation states that "USX collateral is verified weekly by Accountable through its Proof of Solvency product: a cryptographically verified view of assets and liabilities across wallets, custodians, banks, and internal accounts, published on a live dashboard," and adds that "Solstice can't modify or selectively report the data shown."
The collateralization target is stated as a floor with an honest caveat. The documentation says "The protocol targets a collateralization ratio above 100% at all times: Accountable-verified collateral greater than or equal to USX in circulation," then warns that "Live readings fluctuate. Unrealized PnL on hedged positions moves intra-day and may temporarily show a lower ratio. This is expected."
The vault layer sits on top. The documentation describes YieldVault as "the framework that brings each strategy onchain," where users "Mint a yield token with USX - redeem back to USX plus accrued yield." It lists eUSX for delta-neutral funding-driven strategies, aiUSX for AI infrastructure financing, strcUSX linked to Strategy's Nasdaq-listed STRC preferred stock, and tbUSX for sovereign rates exposure, noting which are live and which are not yet.
Supply and tokenomics
USX supply is demand-driven. It expands when institutional partners deposit and contracts when they redeem, with no emissions schedule and no inflation.
The eligible collateral definition is broader than the headline description suggests, and the documentation says so directly: "USX may be issued against any asset or financial claim held by USX Ltd or a Solstice-managed entity that is verifiable by Accountable." It adds that "The collateral pool is assessed at the entity level across all Accountable-verified holdings at the time of verification and is not limited to asset types specified in any individual transaction agreement."

USX carries no vote
Governance and protocol economics sit in separate tokens. The documentation names SLX as "the protocol's alignment & governance token" and stSLX as "staked SLX with a dynamic, cycle-based yield." Neither is USX, and holding USX gives no claim on either.
The clearest statement in the documentation is the disclaimer attached to the solvency page: "USX token holders have no direct ownership, claim, or beneficial interest in any collateral asset. Proof of Solvency is independent third-party verification, not a guarantee of value or redemption liquidity."
History
Solstice positions itself as a yield layer rather than a stablecoin issuer, describing its own role in the analogy "We do for yield what AWS did for compute: abstract the complexity." Under that framing USX is plumbing: the single unit everything enters and exits through, so a user picks a strategy rather than a settlement asset.
The vault design follows from that. Each vault token is described as "a different yield driver, deliberately uncorrelated with the others," with the documentation arguing they "work as diversifiers, not substitutes." eUSX carries the delta-neutral funding strategy that the documentation says has "a multi-year track record and zero negative months." strcUSX, described as live, links income to Strategy's Nasdaq-listed STRC preferred stock and is presented as "the first STRC product on Solana."
The verification arrangement is the other deliberate choice. Rather than commission a monthly attestation, Solstice contracted a weekly cryptographically verified solvency view whose dashboard it cannot edit. That is a stronger commitment than a periodic PDF, and it is also an admission that a collateral pool containing hedged positions needs checking more often than one holding only Treasury bills.
Risks and what to watch
Redemption access is asymmetric. Only KYC'd institutional partners mint and redeem directly with the USX Program. Everyone else buys and sells on the open market, so an ordinary holder's exit is a market price rather than a redemption at par.
The delta-neutral component brings risks a Treasury-backed dollar does not have. Hedged positions depend on funding rates, on exchange availability, and on the hedge holding through a fast move. The documentation itself says unrealized profit and loss on those positions can temporarily push the reported ratio below 100%.
Eligible collateral is defined broadly. Anything held by USX Ltd or a Solstice-managed entity that Accountable can verify may back USX, assessed at the entity level. The composition can therefore change without the definition changing.
Custody concentrates in two named firms, Copper and Ceffu. Off-exchange settlement is a meaningful improvement over leaving collateral on a trading venue, and it substitutes custodian risk for exchange risk rather than removing risk.
Solana-native issuance means USX inherits that chain's liveness. A network halt is a period during which USX cannot be transferred or swapped at all.
Frequently asked questions
Is USX backed only by Treasuries?
No. Solstice's documentation gives the backing as "Audited cash, tokenized Treasuries, and delta-neutral hedged positions in major digital assets," verified weekly by Accountable.
Can anyone redeem USX for dollars?
Not directly. The documentation says KYC'd institutional partners mint and redeem through the USX Program, with USDG as the primary redemption asset. Everyone else swaps in the Solstice app or on Solana decentralized exchanges.
Does holding USX earn yield?
No. Its supply model is described as demand-driven with no emissions, and it carries no governance rights. Yield requires minting a YieldVault token such as eUSX or strcUSX with USX and redeeming back later.
How is the collateral verified?
Weekly by Accountable through its Proof of Solvency product, covering wallets, custodians, banks and internal accounts, published on a live dashboard that the documentation says Solstice cannot modify.

Guides
- Self-Custody vs Exchange Custody: How to Decide
Deciding between self-custody and exchange custody means choosing which failure you would rather be exposed to, a company that loses or freezes your assets or a mistake of your own that nobody can undo, and most people resolve it by splitting holdings rather than picking one for everything.
- How to Verify a Token Contract Address Before You Buy
A token's contract address is its only real identity, so verifying one means getting the address from the project's own official channel, confirming the same address independently from a second source, and checking on a block explorer that the contract is what it claims to be before you trade against it.
- Choosing Your First Crypto Wallet
Choosing a first wallet comes down to one question, whether a company holds your keys or you do, and the right answer depends on how much you hold, how often you move it, and how confident you are about storing a recovery phrase safely for years.
